CMS Softball Has 18 Players Named to NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete Team

CLAREMONT, Calif. - A total of 18 members of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps softball team earned spots on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America Scholar-Athlete Team, the organization announced today.

NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors are given to student-athletes who earn at least a 3.5 grade point average.  NCAA Division III led the way with 2,227 student-athletes earning a 3.5 grade-point average or higher for 2021-22. NCAA Division I followed with 2,155 and NCAA Division II with 1,646.

The Athenas were led by their upper classes, as all five seniors and all five juniors captured NFCA Scholar-Athlete distinction. Jordan Bassett, Natalie Dale, Ananya Koneti, Lauren Richards and Alexa Schulten earned the honor from the Class of 2022, while Alexis Gero, Kristin LeBlanc, Ari Livi, Heather Shipley and Maren Summers captured it from the Class of 2023. 

Ashleigh Adkins, Ellie Novogradac, and Emily Nutting were honorees from the CMS sophomore class, while first-years Kaili Aqui, Madison Gonzalez, Sophia Nguyen, Abby Thompson, and Paige Zimmerman made the cut in their debut seasons. 

CMS finished the year with a 19-19 record and a 12-9 record in SCIAC. The Athenas also earned a win over nationally ranked St. John Fisher.
