
CMS Men's Cross Country Earns All-Academic Team Distinction, Six Stags Honored Individually
CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's cross country team earned All-Academic Team honors from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, the organization announced this week.
CMS earned the honor by combining for a 3.60 GPA as a team, easily surpassing the minimum standard of a 3.1.
Six members of the Stags were also honored by the USTFCCCA as All-Academic Athletes: Hayden Beauchemin, Andrew Blelloch, Daniel Fajardo, Mason Ratkovich, Adam Sage and Nick Taubenheim.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship meet. Beauchemin, Blellcoh, Fajardo, Ratkovich and Sage each added All-Region distinction.
CMS went on to earn 12th place at the NCAA Division III Championships, with Ratkovich (62) and Blelloch (69) each earning top-100 finishes. It marked the 15th year in a row that the Stags qualified for nationals as a team.
