Miles Christensen Earns SCIAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior Miles Christensen earned the SCIAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week honor for events through Sunday, Oct. 3, the conference office announced today.

Christensen led CMS to a second-place finish out of 44 teams at the NCAA Division III Pre-Nationals in Louisville, Kentucky. Christensen finished sixth overall in the field with a time of 24:33.5 over the 8K race, helping the Stags edge out Emory by two points for the second-place spot behind MIT.

The race was the first look for CMS at the course at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky, where the NCAA Division III Championships will be held on Nov. 20. When Christensen last competed at nationals as a sophomore in 2019, he helped CMS to sixth place, just one off the highest finish in program history, and he and his teammates are hoping to eclipse that finish this fall, currently standing at No. 9 in the national polls.

CMS will compete in Claremont for the first time this season on Saturday, when they run in the annual Pomona-Pitzer Invitational. The same course will see the Stags in action at the SCIAC Championships on Oct. 30, and for the NCAA West Regionals on Nov. 13.
