13 CMS runners named on All-SCIAC Team

CLAREMONT, Calif. – Following the SCIAC Championships on Saturday, October 29, the conference named 13 runners from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps cross country program on the All-SCIAC team, six from the men's team and seven from the women's. The All-SCIAC team was chosen based on the top 20 finishers at the SCIAC Championships, which both the Stags and Athenas took first place. Head Coach John Goldhammer and assistant coach Collin Christensen were named coaching staff of the year for leading the Stags to their 16^th title and the Athenas to their 20^th.

Majority of the Stags named on the All-SCIAC team were seniors, with the exception of freshman Thomas D'Anieri (CMC) who took fifth overall at the championship. In addition to D'Anieri, seniors Joshua Sealand (HMC) and Jesse Joseph (HMC) made it on the First Team. Seniors Nico Banks (CMC), Garrett Ryan (CMC), and Kyle Lund (HMC) were named to the Second Team.

For the Athenas, junior Bryn McKillop (SC), senior Carmen Mejia (SC), sophomore Malea Martin (CMC), and senior Caroline Willian (CMC) were listed on the First Team. Senior Rachel Mow (HMC) and juniors Roselyn Cantu (CMC) and Laura Broderick (SC) earned a spot on the Second Team.

Athlete of the Year: Julian Sandoval (Whittier)

Newcomer of the Year: Brody Barkan (Occidental)

Ray Adkinson Award: Ruben Solorza (Whittier)

Coaching Staff of the Year: John Goldhammer (CMS)

Women's

Athlete of the Year: Maya Weigel (Pomona)

Newcomer of the Year: Sophie Walton (Caltech)

Celia Peterson Award: Jessika Snincsak (Redlands)

Coaching Staff of the Year: John Goldhammer (CMS)
