Aidan Nettekoven wins Third SCIAC Defensive Player of the Week Honor

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior goalie Aidan Nettekoven earned the SCIAC Men's Water Polo Defensive Player of the Week honor for games through Sunday, Oct. 29, the league office announced today.

Nettekoven went the distance in goal in the only game of the week for the Stags, a 12-7 win over Pomona-Pitzer, earning 10 saves. The score was 8-7 early in the fourth quarter, but Nettekoven was able to help shut the door the rest of the way, as CMS pulled away for the 12-7 win to maintain sole possession of first place in the SCIAC.

Nettekoven, who is the reigning SCIAC Defensive Player of the Year, previously earned the honor on Oct. 16 and Sept. 25. The last time he won was after a 9-8 win over Redlands, which determined first place in the SCIAC, while his first win came after CMS went 4-0 at the CSU Fullerton Invitational.

CMS will be back in action on Wednesday night at home when it takes on Cal Lutheran for a 7 p.m. contest at Axelrood Pool.
