Weigle Captures SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week Honor

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Luke (Bear) Weigle of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's water polo team earned the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week award for games though Sunday, Sept. 10, the conference office announced today.

Weigle had nine goals for the Stags at the Inland Empire Classic, as the Stags fared well against a tough slate that included three Division I teams ranked in the top 12. He had a pair of hat tricks on the weekend, scoring three times in a 20-11 win over Concordia, and adding three more in a loss to No. 11 UC Santa Barbara.

In addition, Weigle also found the net twice as CMS dropped a tight 11-6 decision to No. 8 Long Beach State. He has now scored at least one goal in all seven games this fall, and in 28 of his last 29 games dating back to last season, when he was named the SCIAC Newcomer of the Year.

CMS will be back in action in two weeks when it plays in the CSU Fullerton Invitational, meeting Air Force, Biola, Austin and the host Titans.
