CMS Men's Water Polo Co-Hosts Gary Troyer Tournament This Weekend

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's water polo program will serve as one of the hosts of the annual Gary Troyer Memorial Tournament this Friday and Saturday at Axelrood Pool.
Pomona-Pitzer, La Verne and Occidental will also serve as hosts of the two-day event, which features a total of 24 men's water polo programs from across the country, playing in 46 matches across four different venues, with 14 of them taking place at Axelrood Pool.
CMS will be in action twice on Friday and twice on Saturday at home, opening up against Pepperdine on Friday at 2 p.m., before facing Fresno Pacific at 6 p.m. On Saturday, the Stags meet Johns Hopkins at 11:40 in a key Division III matchup, before meeting Air Force in the finale at 5 p.m.
The Stags will be facing Air Force for the second time this season, earning a win three weeks ago in the first meeting 11-10 at the Inland Empire Classic on a goal from Luke (Bear) Weigle with nine seconds left. CMS met Johns Hopkins twice last season, winning 9-3 at the Gary Troyer Tournament, and 15-10 in the semifinals of the USA Water Polo Division III Championship.
