Will Clark Named SCIAC Men's Water Polo Offensive Player of the Week

CLAREMONT, Calif. - After helping the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's water polo team to a big 2-0 week, sophomore Will Clark earned the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week award for games through Sunday, Nov. 10, the league office announced today.

Clark had three goals, all in the second half, and assisted on the game-winner from Zack Rossman to break a 9-9 tie with just over two minutes remaining, as CMS defeated No. 1 Whittier 10-9 at Axelrood Pool on Wednesday. The Stags handed the Poets their first league loss, and the win put CMS in strong position to host a SCIAC Semifinal game on Friday, Nov. 22.

In a 19-7 win over Occidental on Saturday, Clark added two more goals and an assist, scoring on both of his shot attempts before giving way to the Stag reserves in a lopsided win. Clark extended his team lead in points to 80, with 35 goals and 45 assists this season, while also leading all field players with 26 steals.

CMS will be back in action on Wednesday night for its final regular season home match against Pomona-Pitzer at 7 p.m. A win would clinch home-pool advantage in the SCIAC semifinals and potentially put the Stags in a tie for the regular season title, if Chapman can upset Whittier.
