Ethan Lewis Named SCIAC Men's Water Polo Offensive Player of the Week

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior Ethan Lewis was named the SCIAC Men's Water Polo Offensive Player of the Week for matches through Sunday, Oct. 27. the league office announced today.

Lewis had a key role in helping CMS sweep two matches to remain in second place in the SCIAC at 7-1. After scoring in a 10-8 win over Cal Lutheran on Wednesday, Lewis exploded for five goals, four in the second half, of an 11-10 win at Redlands on Saturday, while also reaching the 100-goal milestone for his career.

With the score tied 6-6 in the third quarter, Lewis scored back-to-back goals to put the Stags ahead 8-6, a lead they would not relinquish. He added his fifth goal of the contest in the fourth quarter to make it an 11-8 lead, which turned out to the game-winner as Redlands scored the final two goals to make the final score 11-10.

CMS has now won five matches in a row, four on the road, to stay in second place in the SCIAC, one game behind Whittier, which visits Axelrood Pool on Nov. 6. Before that matchup, the Stags first go to La Verne on Wednesday and then hosts Chapman on Saturday at 11 a.m., hoping to keep their winning streak going.
