Kakani wins Shot Put, Scanlon Moves into Fourth at CMS (400h) at Redlands Invitational

REDLANDS, Calif. - Sarath Kakani won the shot put with a throw of 52 feet, four inches, and Colin Scanlon moved up two spots to No. 4 all-time at CMS in the 400-meter hurdles to highlight the performance of the CMS men's track and field team on Friday.

Scanlon ran a 53.48 in the 400-meter hurdles to take a half-second off of his PR and move up from sixth all-time at CMS into fourth place. The all-time record of 52.68 was set by Roman Marenin in 2004, while Alex McDonald more recently qualified for the NCAAs in 2019 with a 53.10, which tied for second with Matt Roberson.  

In the other throws, George Kruger was second in the javelin with a throw of 173'6" to set a new personal best, and Kaden Cassidy was fourth in both the discus and the hammer. 

The 4x100 relay team of Joshua Martinez, Nick Teresi, Evan Siegel and Emmett Stralka earned a second-place finish with a time of 42.28, just behind Azusa Pacific's time of 42.25 and ahead of Occidental in third at 42.39. Teresi added a third-place finish in the 400 in 48.96, and was fifth in the 200 in 21.71.

The 4x400 relay team of Scanlon, Teresi, Miles Demarest and Jackson Aldrich capped off themeet with a third-place finish in 3:26.40, behind only San Diego Mesa College and Azusa Pacific. 

CMS will be back in action in two weeks when it hosts the second SCIAC Multi-Dual at the Burns Track Complex.
