CMS Men's Track and Field Wins Eight Events at Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers Meet

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's track and field team finished in first place in eight different events, including all four throws, in its first outdoor meet of the 2024 season on Saturday at the Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers Meet at the Strehle Track Complex.

Colin Scanlon earned a win in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking a 53.98 to set a new PR and move up to sixth all-time in CMS history, while Kaden Cassidy won the hammer and discus, as the Stags went 1-2-3 in the hammer and shot put on their way to the throws sweep.

In the shot put, Ian Osborne took first at 49'11.5", a new PR that puts him just outside the top 10 in CMS history by 1.25 feet. He was followed by Sarath Kakani in second and Jacob Yep in third, who also set a new PR with a throw of 45' 3.75".

Cassidy earned the win in the hammer throw at 164'8" and was followed by Kavin Prasanna and Logan O'Keefe in second and third. He then edged out Brett Olson of Azusa Pacific in the discus with a throw of 138'11", winning by 3 feet, two inches. George Kruger added a javelin win with a throw of 169 feet even.

On the track, the 4x100 relay of Arthur Cary, Nick Teresi, Evan Siegel and Joshua Martinez finished in 42.41 to win by almost a full second.

Martinez also took first in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.86, with Siegel second in 15.83. Martinez wasn't far off of his PR of 14.60, which ranks second in CMS history (.01 behind record-holder William Fulton, who set it in 1991).

Teresi, meanwhile, was the winner in the 400-meter dash, finishing in 50.32 to win by over a half-second over Juwan Perkins of Azusa Pacific. He also came in third in the 200, first among collegiate competitors, with a 22.10, just edging out Jake Hallesy of Pomona-Pitzer by .04.

Leo Sundstrom was second in the pole vault with a clearance of 14'7.25", Lou DeLano came in third in the 800 meters in 1:57.68, and Hayden Beauchemin was fourth in the 3000 meters with an 8:31.35.
