CMS Men's Track and Field Dominates at Third SCIAC Multi-Dual



CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's track and field team won 16 of the 19 events as it rolled to three dual wins over Caltech, La Verne and Whittier on Saturday afternoon at the Burns Track Complex.

CMS won all 10 track events it competed in, had four different throwers (Sarath Kakani, Ian Osborne, Jason Bowman, Truman Knowles) win the four throwing events, and added pole vault (Leo Sundstrom) and triple jump (Joshua Martinez) wins on its way to defeating Whittier 127-19, La Verne 124-26 and Caltech 126-14. 

Nick Teresi was a part of three wins, taking the 200 meters (21.64) and the 400 meters (48.62) in close races with his own teammates, and running the third leg of the winning 4x100 relay team with Quincey Williams, Christian Campbell and Martinez (41.38). 

Martinez was also a part of three wins, taking first in the 110-meter hurdles (15.50) and the triple jump (11.39 meters). Williams won the 100 meters in 10.86 seconds, while Matthew Jabro (1:57.20) took first in the 800, Charles Albach and Mark Russell tied in the 1500 (3:55.9) and Adam Sage took first in the 5000 (15:23.45). 

Colin Scanlon made it a hurdles sweep by taking the 400-meter hurdles in 56.46, while Agustin Gomez de la Vega was first in the steeplechase in 9:33.82 and Sundstrom won the pole vault with a clearance of 4.37 meters. 

In the throws, Kakani won the shot put at 16.01 meters, Osborne threw the discus 42.21 meters, Bowman won the hammer with a throw of 55.42 meters, and Knowles threw the javelin 62.84 meters. 

CMS will be back in action in two weeks for the SCIAC Championships.
