Christian Campbell Earns Second SCIAC Track Athlete of the Week Honor

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Christian Campbell of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's track and field team earned the SCIAC Track Athlete of the Week for events through Sunday, April 2, the conference office announced today.

Campbell broke the SCIAC record in the 200 meters at the league Multi-Dual this weekend, running a 20.92 to edge out the old mark by .07. It was the second-fastest time in Division III this season, and broke a 36-year-old program record held by Mark Messana.

Campbell also won the 100 in 10.50, just .03 off his school record set earlier this year, and was a part of two relay wins as CMS swept its three decisions. He previously won the SCIAC Track Athlete of the Week honor on Feb. 21 after setting the 100 record at the Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers meet, while Joshua Martinez and Miles Christensen have also previously won the Track Athlete of the Week award, and Jason Bowman, Sarath Kakani, and Truman Knowles have each captured the Field Athlete of the Week.

CMS will be back in action this weekend for both the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational and the UC San Diego Triton Invitational.
