Miles Christensen Takes SCIAC Track Athlete of the Week Distinction for Stags Track and Field

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Miles Christensen of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's track and field team was named the SCIAC Track Athlete of the Week for events through Sunday, March 12, the conference office announced today.

Christensen was the third-place finisher out of over 200 runners at the Occidental Distance Carnival in the 5000 meters, moving into third place in CMS history with a time of 14:18.76, which is the fastest time in DIII this year. Christensen edged out a pair of Pomona-Pitzer runners by less than a second in order to earn third, behind one runner from The Master's University and one from Division I Loyola Marymount.

Christensen becomes the third different Stag to take the honor this season, joining Christian Campbell and Joshua Martinez. Campbell earned it after breaking the CMS record in the 100 at the Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers Meet on Feb. 19, while Martinez won it after sweeping the two hurdles events and anchoring the 4x100 relay at the first SCIAC Multi-Dual last weekend.

Campbell earned All-America honors at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships this weekend by coming in fourth in the 200 meters, but the SCIAC only considers outdoor performances for its weekly honors.

CMS will be back in action this weekend at the Redlands Invitational.
