Reese Peterson Takes Second SCIAC Field Athlete of the Week Award of 2019 Season

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Junior thrower Reese Peterson was named the SCIAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week for events through Sunday, March 30, the league office announced today.

Peterson earned the distinction after taking first place in three different events at the four-team SCIAC Multi-Dual hosted by Caltech on Saturday, In fact, Peterson won all three events by wide margins, combining to throw his three implements 43 feet further than the rest of the competition.

Peterson won the hammer with a top distance of 155 feet, one inch, 24 feet further than the second-place finisher. His top shot put distance of 46'5.5" was a six-foot margin of victory, while his discus throw of 133 feet won by a margin of just over 13 feet. Earlier this season, Peterson also won the award after the first SCIAC Multi-Dual at Redlands, when he won both the discus and the hammer.

The Stags have now won either the Track Athlete of the Field Athlete of the Week honor on five different occasions, including the two wins from Peterson. Freshman Keizo Morgan, freshman Miles Christensen and sophomore Alex McDonald have all earned the Track Athlete of the Week honors for their performances in the 400, the distance medley relay, and the 400 hurdles, respectively. 

CMS will be back in action this weekend when it heads across the street to take part in the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday.
