Keizo Morgan Named SCIAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week for Stags

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Freshman Keizo Morgan earned the SCIAC Track Athlete of the Week Award for events through Feb. 17, the league office announced today.

Morgan got off to an impressive start to his Claremont-Mudd-Scripps track and field career at the Pomona-Pitzer All Comers Meet on Saturday at Strehle Track. He won the 800 meters in 1:57.91, finishing in first place in an event that featured numerous non-collegiate entries running unattached or with track clubs. He won the race by just under one-half second over unattached runner Noah Ballard (1:58.36), while finishing one minute and one second ahead of the second-place collegiate runner.

In addition to his individual win, Morgan also anchored a 4x400 relay team that came in second out of 10 teams with a time of 3:28.07. The Stags only finished behind Division II UC San Diego in the 4x400, and edged out SCIAC rival Chapman by just .37 for second.

Morgan and the Stags will be back in action this Saturday when they host the annual Rossi Relays at the Burns Track Complex.
