D'Anieri Finishes 13th in Steeplechase National Final

LA CROSSE, Wis. – After a strong start in the 3000 meter steeplechase prelims, Thomas D'Anieri (CMC) came up short in the finals of the event. The sophomore finished 13th in the nation with a time of 9:40.83.

Day Three: Saturday, May 26

After a tough start, falling to the back of the group through the first few laps, D'Anieri gave one final push to finish almost nine seconds ahead of Daniel Rosen from Pomona-Pitzer. He ran his final lap of the steeplechase in 1:12.66 to pass Rosen and finish just ahead of him in 13th (9:40.83).

Day One: Thursday, May 24

Thomas D'Anieri (CMC) had a successful day at the 2018 NCAA DIII Track and Field National Championships, winning his heat in the prelims of the 3000 meter steeplechase. His time of 9:18.54 qualifies him for the National Final on Saturday.

D'Anieri led for most of the race, opening a gap heading into the final two laps. He fell into second with 200 meters to go, but made a push to the finish line to regain the lead and win the heat by almost four tenths of a second. He finished second overall, less than a tenth of a second behind DePauw's Polo Burgete.
