Warren Pham Named SCIAC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Warren Pham of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team earned SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors for events through Sunday, Feb. 18, the SCIAC office announced today.

Pham was a perfect 3-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles as the Stags opened the year with three wins in four matches. He was not in the line-up when CMS fell to Division II Point Loma on Friday, but competed in the evening session of the doubleheader, winning both singles (6-2, 7-6) and doubles (6-2) against Division II Westmont.  

On Sunday, when CMS opened Division III play, Pham had another singles-doubles sweep in a win over Lewis & Clark, taking a 6-3, 6-4 decision at No. 3 singles and an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles. He concluded his weekend with a win in singles over No. 20 Brandeis, taking his match 6-1, 6-0. 

CMS will be back in action this weekend when it travels to Kentucky to compete in the ITA Indoor Championships, opening against Trinity (Texas) on Friday.
