Ian Freer Honored by USTA Southern California on All-SoCal College Team

CLAREMONT, California - The United States Tennis Association of Southern California selected Ian Freer of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis as one of its 10 honorees (men and women) on the 2022 All-SoCal College Team, the organization announced today.

The award is given to student-athletes who exemplify both athletic and academic achievement, as well as commendable sportsmanship throughout their junior and college careers.

Freer reached the semifinals of the ITA West Regionals in singles and the quarterfinals in doubles back in the fall, finishing with a No. 26 ITA singles rank nationally, as well as No. 9 in the West in singles and doubles. Freer was awarded ITA Rookie of the year as well as ITA All-American honors in doubles as a first-year in 2020, before the 2021 season was canceled by the pandemic. He has missed the last month with an injury, but is expected to return to the CMS lineup for the homestretch of the regular season.

The three other honorees in men's tennis include Ryan Nuno (Azusa Pacific), Stanley Morris (Middelbury), and Noah Zamora (UC Irvine).

CMS will be back in action when it faces Biola and Whittier on the road on Friday, before returning home to face Chapman on Saturday at 3 p.m.
