Men’s tennis placed at No. 6 in fall rankings

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced its Division III Men's National Team Ranking for the fall, placing the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis program at No. 6 in the nation. The Stags are currently the highest ranked team from the SCIAC, standing three spots ahead of cross-street rival No. 9 Pomona-Pitzer. Bowdoin College from the New England Small College Athletic Conference currently sits atop the rankings, followed by Emory University from the University Athletic Association.

CMS earned their high inidvidual and regional ranking after an impressive showing at the ITA West Regional, in which the Stags faced each other in the singles and doubles finals, followed by having freshman Nikolai Parodi (CMC) and senior Glenn Hull (CMC) take third place at the ITA Oracle Cup. In the singles rankings, Senior Daniel Morkovine (CMC) is at No. 7, immediately followed by Parodi at No. 8. Senior Alex Brenner (CMC) and Hull also made it into the the top-50 at 31st and 36th. For doubles, Morkovine and sophomore partner Julian Gordy (CMC) are ranked third with Parodi and Hull coming in at fifth.

Regionally, the Stags sit at the top of the west. Four SCIAC programs are listed in the top-10 as CMS is joined by No. 2 Pomona-Pitzer, No. 4 Redlands, and No. 10 Whittier.

The Stags will open up their season on February 4, when they host the Ducey Cup at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center.
