Men's Tennis Takes Two Against Trinity and Babson

CMS Stags Tennis defeated #19 Trinity College (CT) and Babson to record it's second double-header sweep in the last five days. The Stags got their third win over a nationally ranked team during that time.

Senior Robbie Erani (New York, NY [pictured right]) was a straight set winner against Trinity at #4 singles, and paired with Victor Chien (Sr. - Diamond Bar, CA) to win at #3 doubles against both teams. Erani and Chien are now 4-0 at the #3 position on the season. Their 8-0 win against Trinity put the Stags on the scoreboard early, but CMS was fortunate to split two tie-breakers at #1 and #2 and carry a 2-1 lead into the singles.

In singles, CMS was dominant at positions #2 through #5, not yielding more than five games in any one match. Junior Alex Johnson (Thousand Oaks, CA) returned to his winning ways with a 6-2, 6-1 at #3, while Alex Lane (Jr. - Claremont, CA) kept his record perfect at the #2 position with an easy 6-1, 6-2 win clinched the dual for the Stags.

Sophomore Neel Kotrappa (La Verne, CA) had another prolific day, earning his team leading seventh and eighth singles dual match wins while playing #6 against Trinity and #1 against Babson. Kotrappa and Brandon Wei (Sr. - Lake Oswego, OR) added two more doubles wins to their record and are now 7-0 as a team.

Kotrappa, Wei, and Zhenya Pereverzin (So. - Clackamas, OR) all contributed singles and doubles wins in the nightcap against Babson. Pereverzin put the Stags ahead 4-0 with his 6-0, 6-0 win at #4, while Wei clinched the match with his 6-1, 6-0 victory at #6.

CMS improves it's overall record to 9-4 on the season. Next up for the Stags is #3 Williams this Friday March 23, at 2:00 PM and then #1 Amherst on Saturday, March 24, at 1:00 PM. Both matches will be played at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center and broadcast via live streaming.
