Wood and Lane Selected for NCAA Singles Competition

CMS' Warren Wood (Fr. - Del Mar, CA [pictured bottom right]) and Alex Lane (Jr. - Claremont, CA [pictured top right]) have been selected to participate in the singles competition of the 2012 NCAA Division III Championships, May 24-26 in Cary, NC. Lane returns to the singles championships, having reached the quarterfinals in Claremont in 2011. As a freshman, Wood will be making his first appearance at NCAAs.

Wood and Lane have held down the top two singles positions for the Stags all season long. Wood is currently ranked #3 in the West Region in singles. He has a record of 20-9 overall, and an 11-5 mark at the #1 position. He is 3-2 at #2 singles and is 6-2 in tournament play, having reached the semifinals of the USTA / ITA West Regionals in October and the quarterfinals of Ojai in April. Lane is ranked #8 in the West and owns a 21-7 record overall. He is 2-4 at the top spot and 8-1 at #2, with an 11-2 tournament record. Lane won the USTA / ITA West Regionals in October and then advanced to the USTA / ITA Small College Nationals where he finished third. He also reached the semifinals of Ojai.
