Stags Strong in San Diego

CMS Men's Tennis returns from a four day trip to La Jolla, where they split dual matches with #27 Mary Washington and Division II UC San Diego, then competed in the 122nd Annual Pacific Coast Doubles Tournament. Brandon Wei (Jr. - Lake Oswego, OR) and Alex Lane (So. - Claremont, CA) [pictured left to right] stayed undefeated in dual match play and won four of six matches at the PCD.

CMS was impressive in doubles in both dual matches, winning five of six pro-sets and using two first time partnerships. Senior Captain Ronald Wu (Los Altos, CA) formed one of the two new partnerships with freshman Frank Liu (Upland, CA) when Wu's regular partner Robbie Erani (Jr. - New York, NY) was injured prior to the Mary Washington match. Wu and Liu split their two pro-sets, while Wu went on to win both of his singles matches. Against UCSD at #4 singles, Wu saved two match points in the second set en route to an epic 4-6, 7-6(3), 7-6(5) win. The Stags' captain was the first to win his singles match earlier that day in his team's 8-1 victory over UMW.

CMS is now 6-1 overall and co-host the Stag-Hen Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
