NCAA Singles and Doubles Results

The CMS tennis players competing in the individual portion of the NCAA Division III Championships had a rough time this weekend with only one win in six matches. The Men's Championship was hosted by Washington University in St. Louis, MO while the Women's Championship was hosted by University of Mary Washington in Fredricksburg, VA.

CMS had three singles players competing - Larry Wang (SO, Orange) and William Ellison (SR, Shaker Heights, OH) for the men and Yassie Entekhabi (JR, Agoura) for the women. All three lost in the first round. Wang, seeded second overall, lost to eventual finalist John Watts from Washington University 7-5, 6-2. Ellison lost to John Reiss from Swarthmore College 7-6, 6-4. Entekhabi lost to Tshema Nash from Emory University 7-5, 2-6, 6-2.

The men and women each had one doubles team competing. Wang and Guillaume Schils (SO, Shaker Heights, OH) beat Zack Lerner and Tal Avrahami from Amherst College 6-1, 6-2 in the first round, but lost to Michael Goodwin and Yoji Masuoka from Emory 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in the quarterfinals. Entekhabi and Jessica Nagasako (SR, Lahaina, HI) lost to Stephanie Kurti and Becky Morse-Karzen from University of Mary Washington 6-1, 6-3 in the first round.
