Stags Beat Loyola Marymount, Whittier
The en's Tennis Team won two matches Saturday, defeating conference opponent Whittier College 9-0 in the morning, and then Loyola Marymount 6-1 in the afternoon.
The Stags' Kirthi Narasimhan (JR, Sugar Land, Texas) played at the #1 position and earned his third singles win without a defeat in conference. Freshmen Myles Crandall (Tucson, AZ) and Mathias Mondino (Westport, CT) were victorious at positions #5 and #6 in their SCIAC singles debuts, and Thomas Keiffer (FR, La Jolla) won for the second day in a row without losing a game
Against Division I Loyola Marymount University, the Stags won an exciting doubles point by taking the first and third position with 8-6 wins. Seniors William Ellison (Shaker Heights, OH) and David Oehm (Menlo Park) fought back from a break down to win at #1, while seniors Eric Chow (Sunnyvale) and Evan Feldhausen (Tucson, AZ) clinched the point with their victory at #3. In singles, the Stags mounted an insurmountable 4-0 lead after freshman Eric MacColl (Greenbrae, CA), junior Ben Hough (Spokane, WA), and Chow won in straight sets at #5, #6, and #3 respectively. Freshman Mikey Lim (Honolulu, HI) was also impressive in battling back from a set down for the second day in a row, for a victory at #4.
With the two victories today, CMS moves to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in conference. Next up for the team is a trip to the ITA National Indoors in St. Peter, MN. The #3 ranked Stags play #6 ranked DePauw University in the first round, Friday at 5:00 PM EST.
