Stags Win SCIAC Opener as Part of Saturday Sweep
The CMS Men's Tennis Team moved to 4-0 on the season by winning their SCIAC home opener against Caltech and then defeating NAIA opponent Vanguard in the afternoon. The Stags were led by Senior Kyle Ellison, who won at #2 singles, and Freshman Ben Wiener, who did not lose a game at #4 singles. CMS swept the doubles point and then won five of six singles matches for the 6-1 final tally. Against nationally ranked Vanguard, the Stags again swept the doubles point and then won four of six singles matches. Freshmen Guillaume Schils and Lawrence Wang won at #1 doubles and then went on to win their singles matches in straight sets at #5 and #4 respectively. The Stags resume SCIAC play this Friday with a 2:00 PM match at Whittier, and then play La Verne and Chapman at CMS on Saturday as part of a Parents Weekend doubleheader.
