Stags Lose Tough One to Trinity; Beat UT Tyler

The #6 ranked CMS Stags split a doubleheader on Saturday in San Antonio to open their five match Spring Break road trip in Texas. The Stags lost to #9 ranked Trinity 5-2 in the morning and then came back to defeat University of Texas at Tyler 5-2 in the afternoon. Against Trinity, CMS won the doubles point by sweeping all three positions - this after nearly being swept by the same pairs two weeks earlier at the ITA National Indoors. In the singles, Kyle Ellison won at #6 singles, and the Stags lost at the other five positions in closely contested matches. Against UT Tyler, CMS again swept the doubles and then went on to win at four of six singles positions. Kyle Ellison led the Stags by winning all four matches on Saturday, playing #2 doubles with David Oehm, and #6 and #4 singles respectively against Trinity and UT Tyler. CMS takes on Southwestern University on Sunday at 12 noon in Georgetown, Texas. The Stags conclude their match play on Monday with a doubleheader at the Austin Tennis Academy against Hardin Simmons and Whitman.
