Grant Donaldson Earns SCIAC Defensive Player of the Week Honor

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Senior center back Grant Donaldson earned the SCIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games through Sunday, Oct. 2, the league office announced today.

Donaldson had a key role in a 2-0 road week for the Stags from his center back position. He anchored a defense that produced a shutout in a 3-0 win over Whittier, and then scored a goal coming forward on a set piece in a 2-1 win over Caltech, putting CMS ahead 1-0 in the game's first 20 minutes. He was also part of a defense that helped hold the Beavers to only four shot attempts in the game.

The two road wins helped CMS to move into a tie for first place in the SCIAC at 4-1-1 with Occidental as the Stags attempt to win their fourth straight regular season league title in Donaldson's four seasons with the team. The Stags have a 34-4-5 record in league games during his career.

CMS will have two key SCIAC home games this week as it looks to cement its position atop the league standings, meeting third-place Cal Lutheran on Wednesday at 7 p.m., and fourth-place Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday at 7 p.m.
