De Anda, Rahim, Rubin Earn Spots on All-Region Team for CMS Men's Soccer

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Seniors Eduardo De Anda, Samay Rahim and Harper Rubin were each honored with spots on the United Soccer Coaches All-Region X Second Team in a vote of the region's coaches, the organization announced today.

De Anda finished the regular season ranked sixth in the nation with an 0.38 goals against average for the Stags, tallying eight shutouts and a 12-0-3 record this season, before seeing it tick up to 0.51 after CMS dropped a 2-1 decision to Redlands in the SCIAC finals. De Anda finished with a career record of 22-2-4, with his only other defeat coming in the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2019, as he never lost a regular season game for CMS in his two seasons as the starting goalkeeper. He earned first-team United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors in 2019.

Rahim was a third-team All-Region selection as a midfielder in 2019, and moved to a center back position this season, where he quarterbacked a defense that didn't allow more than one goal in a game until the SCIAC finals. Rahim also contributed three goals to the Stags offensively, one of which came in the SCIAC Finals defeat as he gave the Stags a chance at a comeback. Rahim was also honored for the second time on the all-region teams, picking up third-team honors as a midfielder in 2019.

Rubin returned to the CMS midfield this year after missing the 2019 season (and the 2020 season due to COVID) and had a huge impact, scoring six goals. He had two goals twice, including both goals in a 2-1 regular season win over Redlands, after which he earned the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week honor. He also scored twice in a 4-1 win over Oglethorpe picking up a pair of two-goal games in the season's first three weeks.

CMS had a successful season under first-year head coach Ryan Fahey, who, along with assistants Trevor Swartz and Stefan Gonzalez, were named the SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year. The Stags finished the campaign 14-2-3, going undefeated in the regular season against Division III opponents for the first time in program history (the only regular season defeat was in overtime to Westmont, an NAIA school), including the first undefeated season in SCIAC play since 1993.
