CMS has another record year in the Directors’ Cup standings

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletics is ranked third in the 2017-18 Division III Learfield Directors’ Cup standings, the program’s highest finish ever. This is the second-straight year that CMS has finished in the top-5 in the country.
CMS Claims 10th-Straight SCIAC All-Sports Trophy

For the 10th-straight year and 30th time in program history, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletic Department claimed the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s Combined All-Sports Trophy. The Athenas earned 94 points this season and won the All-Sports Trophy on the women’s side by a 19-point margin, claiming their eighth-straight and 23rd overall. The Stags finished third in the standings on the men’s side with 65.5 points. Pomona-Pitzer won the men’s All-Sports Trophy.
Stags Raise Money for Cancer Research Through Cycle for Survival

“Very few people go through life without their lives being touched by cancer in some form,” said Claremont-Mudd-Scripps head men’s soccer coach Matt Edwards. “We’re so excited that we had an opportunity to be involved with Cycle for Survival to help fuel the research of rare cancers.”
Stags End Season on High Note, Shutout Leopards

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s soccer team ended the 2017 season with a 3-0 victory against the La Verne Leopards on Saturday afternoon. Aidan Johnson (CMC) opened the scoring with a goal in the fifth minute and Daniel Rohde (HMC) collected a brace with a goal in each half. In goal, Connor Gaskin (CMC) made six saves in the Stags’ third shutout of the season.
First-Half Goal Pushes Poets Over Stags in Home Finale

The Whittier Poets connected in the 44th minute on a breakaway goal for the only score in a Saturday night match on Pritzlaff field against the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s soccer team. Despite outshooting the Poets 15-10 in the match, the Stags were unable to find the back of the net on senior day.
Five Different Scorers Lead Stags Past Beavers

On Wednesday night the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags rolled to a comfortable 5-0 victory over the visiting Caltech Beavers. The Stags controlled possession throughout the match and outshot the Beavers 36-6 in the contest.
Bulldogs Blank Stags in SCIAC Tilt

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's soccer team was shutout against the University of Redlands Bulldogs 3-0 on Saturday night. The Bulldogs outshot the Stags 15-6 in the match and put 10 shots on goal against three for CMS.
Stags and Athenas Soccer Receive Team Academic Award

United Soccer Coaches recognized both the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s and women’s soccer teams for their classroom achievements during the 2016-17 academic year with the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award.
Panthers Top Stags in Midweek SCIAC Tilt

On Wednesday afternoon the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s soccer team fell to the Chapman Panthers 2-1. After a first-half goal by Chapman, Justin Gadalla (HMC) found the equalizer in the 82nd minute for CMS. Just two minutes later, Charlie Raymond delivered the game-winner in the 84th minute with a slotted shot to the far post from the left-side. Chapman held a 15-13 advantage in total shots and only a slim, 8-6 edge on shots on target.
Late Comeback Falls Short in Sixth Street Match

The Sixth Street Rivalry rematch finished in favor of the Sagehens on Saturday afternoon, as the Stags took a tough 2-1 loss. Trailing 2-0 for majority of the match, the Stags worked hard to stage a comeback. Isaiah Alba (CMC) managed to bring CMS within one with a goal in the 67th minute, but the Stags' comeback attempt fell short.
Golden Chances Elude Stags in Draw with Kingsmen

The Stags and Kingsmen went the distance on Wednesday evening, after 90 minutes of play the score stood even at 1-1. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps had all sorts of chances in the first overtime period, but were unable to find the back of the cage for the golden goal. Despite dangerous chances from Cal Lutheran in the second overtime, the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Stags Outlasted in Sixth Street Rivalry Match

Another page in the illustrative history between Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Pomona-Pitzer was written on Saturday evening as the Sagehens edged the Stags 1-0 in front of a packed house on Pritzlaff Field. Pomona-Pitzer found the back of the net in the 16th minute from the left-side off the foot of Aidan Ferrer for the lone score of the contest.
Offensive Shootout Favors Tigers in SCIAC Tilt

The Occidental Tigers led the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s soccer team 1-0 at the half on Wednesday, before the two sides combined for seven second-half goals. The flurry of activity favored the Tigers and pushed Occidental past CMS 5-3.
Golden Goal Pushes Stags Past Beavers in Overtime

Trailing 1-0 late in the second-half against Caltech, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's soccer team scored a goal in the 75th minute to force overtime and then tallied another goal at the end of the first overtime-period to clinch a 2-1 victory. The Stags controlled the pace of play throughout the afternoon, owning a 22-3 advantage in shots, but it was the Beavers that struck first with a penalty kick goal in the 21st minute.
