Sally Abel - Women's Lacrosse

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's lacrosse team kept on rolling, clinching at least a share of the SCIAC regular season title with two road wins this week at Redlands and Chapman, as sophomore Sally Abel came through with nine goals and two assists to reach the 100-point milestone and lead the Athenas to their 32nd straight conference win.

CMS had to battle to win both contests, leading by just 7-6 at the half at Redlands, and trailing 4-2 midway through the first half at Chapman. Both times, the CMS offense got cranking and left their opponents behind, using a 5-0 run in less than six minutes to start the second half at Redlands and a 6-0 spurt in less than seven minutes to take control of the game at Chapman.

Abel led the charge with nine goals and went over 100 points in her career, now standing with 102 on 88 goals and 14 assists in just two seasons. She had four goals and an assist in the win at Redlands, and topped that with five goals and an assist in the win at Chapman.

CMS has now won 32 straight games against SCIAC opponents and stands at 8-0 this season with two games left at home against Occidental on Wednesday (7 p.m.) and Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday (1 p.m.). A win in either game would clinch the regular season title outright and the right to host the SCIAC Tournament, with the semifinals on Wednesday, May 1 and the finals on Saturday, May 4.
