Bio

Comments from teammate Bob Farra (QB: 1978-81): ‘Augie was the most tenacious player during our era. He was arguably undersized for a center, but he made up for that with incredible strength because he worked out like a mad man. But it was the stuff off the field that made the difference. Many of his teammates came back to be at a party in his honor. He has made huge contributions to the College as an athlete, student and alumnus.’ Individual awards: CMS Rookie of the Year (1976), SCIAC honorable mention (1976), NAIA District 3 honorable mention (1976), second-team All-SCIAC (1977), Player of the Week (1977), first-team All-SCIAC (1978, 1979) and Coaches’ Award recipient. Team notables: 1978 team ranked 20th in the nation and was the No. 1 passing offense in the nation and top offense and defense in the SCIAC. The 1979 Stags also led the nation in passing and won the SCIAC championship.
