Davis is the winningest coach in CMS men's soccer program history with a career record of 356-125-48 (.718 winning percentage) from 1969-97. His teams won 20 SCIAC championships during that time, including 14 straight from 1981-94. The Stags under Davis' guidance were 256-38-19 in conference matches. The 356 wins are over 200 wins more than the next coach on the CMS men's soccer wins list (as of 2016). The Stags in 1983 finished as the NCAA Division III runner-up, the program's most successful season under Davis, and he was named as Division III National Coach of the Year. The Stags made 16 national playoff appearances under Davis. The SCIAC recognized Davis with its Distinguished Service Award in 1999.
