Bio

Dewar was one of the best middle-distance runners in CMS history. He was a four-year competitor in track and cross country. He had track bests of 1:51.9 in the 800 meters, 4:17.0 in the mile, and 9:38.8 for the 2 miles. Upon graduation, he held the school record in the 800 and 2 miles, and was second in the 1 mile. He also was a vital member of two school-record relay teams. His anchor leg of 1:51.3 on the sprint medley at the Mount SAC Relays was the key leg for that record, and he also had the fastest leg on the 4x880 relay record-setting team. Dewar competed at the NAIA National Championships in 1965, where he finished eighth, and then competed at the NCAA Championships that same year. As a senior, he finished sixth in the 1,000-yard final at the AAU National Indoor Champions. In cross country, he earned second-team All-SCIAC honors as a senior. Dewar served on the Harvey Mudd Board of Trustees from 1995-1998.
