Athenas Through Title IX: 2010-2022

Athenas Through Title IX: 2010-2022

With all the accomplishments the Athenas had over their first three-plus decades of competition and into the 2000s, the Athenas had yet to breakthrough for a team NCAA Division III National Championship. That all changed in 2017 when Athenas Volleyball swept Wittenberg 3-0 to win the program’s first National Championship. Women’s Golf followed in 2018 with a title of its own followed by Women’s Tennis, capping off an academic year that saw the Athenas win three team National Championships. Three track & field athletes added individual National Championships in 2018 as well. Women’s Tennis added its second National Championship in May, continuing the Athenas’ rise on the national stage.

This week in honor of the 50th anniversary of Title IX (June 23) and as we continue to highlight Great Moments from 75 Years of Athletics, please join us in the celebration of CMS Athena teams.

  • We hope you have enjoyed following along throughout the week to learn more about the history of Athena teams at CMS as we've highlighted different decades each day: Tuesday (1970s and 1980s), Wednesday (1990-2009), Today (2010-present).

  • Donate to your Athena team before June 30 and help elevate the experience of current Athena student-athletes.
