CMS breaks into top-10 in DIII Directors’ Cup standings

CLEVELAND, Ohio – In the 2015-16 school year, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps broke into the top-10 in the NCAA Division III Learfield Directors' Cup standings for the first time in program history with a tie for 10thplace nationally. The final results were released by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) on June 9.

This year marks the 21st installment of the Learfield Directors' Cup. CMS has finished in the top-60 in 19 of those years and the 2015-16 season, it was the program's 13th top-30 finish, fourth in the top-15, and now first inside the top-10. The Athenas and Stags have now finished in the top-25 nationally in six-consecutive years and this is the ninth-straight school year that CMS has improved on or tied its mark from the year prior. In 2007-08, CMS finished in 80th. Following 2007-08, CMS has finished in 34th, 27th, 24th, 14th, 13th, tied for 13th, 11th and now 10th.

The Learfield Directors' Cup standings are based on the accrual of points for teams that participated in NCAA Championships. CMS earned 703.5 points from the success of: women's cross country (13th – 63), men's cross country (7th – 72), women's volleyball (17th – 50), men's water polo (5th – 25), women's basketball (17th – 50), men's swimming (10th – 67.5), softball (17th – 50), women's tennis (5th – 73), men's tennis (5th – 73), and women's track & field (5th – 75), men's track & field (71st – 5), and men's golf (1st – 100).
