Ulrich and Tavé Named SCIAC Athletes Of The Week

David Ulrich and Jennifer Tavé were selected SCIAC Athletes of the Week for the week of March 7-13.

Ulrich pitched a four-hit shutout against defending SCIAC Champion Pomona-Pitzer as CMS won at home 6-0. He held the Sagehens to a .133 average in the game (4-30) and struck out four. On the season, Ulrich is 3-1 with a 2.53 ERA and holding opponents to a .196 average.

Tavé set the CMS school record in the 10,000 with a time of 35:22.27 at the Occidental Distance Carnival. The time was a personal best by 44 seconds, is the second fastest in SCIAC history and broke a 27-year old record. Her time is an NCAA automatic qualifying mark (the only one achieved so far this season in any event on the women's side) and currently leads the national Division III list by over two minutes. Her halfway time of 17:27.5 has only been bested by eight women in SCIAC history in a 5000 meter race.
