Softball earns NFCA Top-10 Academic Team honors

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps softball team has been honored as a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Top 10 Academic Team, as announced on Oct. 13. With a 3.532 combined GPA, the Athenas ranked No. 8 in Division III.
70 Stags and Athenas on SCIAC All-Academic Teams

On July 1, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced the 2014-15 Spring All-Academic Teams. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps students made up 70 of the 436 athletes honored.
Robinson named to NFCA’s All-West Region First Team

After being named the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s (SCIAC) softball Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive year, junior shortstop Tara Robinson (CMC) was selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region First Team in the west.

Junior Tara Robinson earned her second consecutive Athlete of the Year award and freshman Anna Gurr, freshman Carly Roleder and junior Katie Savard received Second Team honors, as announced by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) on May 7.
Athenas fight back but unable to defend SCIAC Tournament title

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps softball team made a valiant run in the final day of the SCIAC Tournament on May 2 at Whittier College’s Palmer Field. The Athenas needed to win three games in a row and came up just short of repeating as SCIAC Tournament champion.

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps softball team advances to the second and final day of the SCIAC Postseason Tournament after beating La Verne 6-5 in the first game and then losing to Whittier 1-0 in the night cap.

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps softball team dominated the field on Friday afternoon for two shutouts over Chapman, 4-0 & 8-0 (6 inn.). Today, the Athenas are tied for first in SCIAC with a chance at a conference title as they face La Verne in the final games of the regular season.

Walk-off and shutout wins for sweep of Pomona-Pitzer

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps softball team earned the sweep of Sixth Street rivals, Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday afternoon in two gutsy wins, 2-1 and 2-0. Saturday’s wins maintained the Athenas’ standing in second place with four games remaining in the regular season. Freshman pitcher Anna Gurr (CMC) held opposing batters to just a .121 average in 9.1 innings pitched.

Anna Gurr has led the Athena softball team from the circle all season and earned a win and a save this weekend in big games against Pomona-Pitzer, 2-1 & 2-0. Gurr pitched game one and earned her 10th win on the season, eighth in SCIAC.

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps softball team came roaring back for a sweep of Cal Lutheran in two quick games on Saturday afternoon, 5-1 and 8-0 (5 inn.). The Athenas only allowed one run on the day and scored 13.
