Playing the second game in a back-to-back, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s soccer team defeated the Caltech Beavers 5-2. Gabrielle Clouse (CMC) connected for a pair of goals to lead four different scorers on the afternoon. The two goals for Clouse were her first two scores this season.

Taking on their next-door neighbors the No. 8 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's volleyball team dominated the Sagehens and completed a 3-0 (25-15, 25-10, 25-13) sweep for their 11th-straight victory. In the match, CMS swung at a .373 clip highlighted by the effort from Margaux Arntson (CMC) who connected for a match-high 14 kills on 22 swings.

Rhiann Holman (CMC) opened the scoring on Saturday night with a tally in the 11th minute off a pass from Sarah Tocher (CMC) against the Occidental Tigers. That 1-0 lead would stand until the Tigers leveled the score in the 34th minute. The remainder of regulation as well as two overtime periods would not produce another goal and the Athenas and Tigers finished the SCIAC tilt in a 1-1 draw.

Bulldogs Race Past Stags Late

Three different Stags scored touchdowns on Saturday afternoon, but the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps football team was not able to hold on against the Redlands Bulldogs, falling 42-25. The Stags held a 17-12 lead at the half and the game was tied 25-25 at the end of the third quarter, but the Bulldogs scored 17 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to claim the victory.

First-Half Goal Pushes Poets Over Stags in Home Finale

The Whittier Poets connected in the 44th minute on a breakaway goal for the only score in a Saturday night match on Pritzlaff field against the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s soccer team. Despite outshooting the Poets 15-10 in the match, the Stags were unable to find the back of the net on senior day.

No. 8 Athenas Ace Panthers, Claim Tenth-Straight Victory

The No. 8 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s volleyball team took the floor on Friday night against the Chapman Panthers looking to avenge their only SCAIC loss of the season to date. The Athenas did just that, sweeping the Panthers in convincing fashion, 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-7). It was also senior night in Roberts Pavilion and the eight-member senior class put on a show for the home fans. All eight seniors made contributions in the victory, highlighted by back-to-back service aces in the third set by Jenny Smith (HMC).

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s water polo team held the Whittier Poets scoreless over the final period on Thursday night, but could not complete the comeback. The Stags fell 8-7 in a gripping match in Axelrood Pool.After Noah Deer (CMC) scored the matches’ first goal, the Poets went on to take a 6-2 lead after 11 minutes of play. Facing an uphill battle, the Stags clawed their way back and early in the third period trimmed the lead to just one at 6-5.

On Wednesday night the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags rolled to a comfortable 5-0 victory over the visiting Caltech Beavers. The Stags controlled possession throughout the match and outshot the Beavers 36-6 in the contest.

On Wednesday evening, the Chapman Panthers broke a scoreless game in the 96th minute with a golden goal off the foot of Shelby Brown to defeat the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athenas 1-0. The Panthers and Athenas split their two matches this season by identical 1-0 scores. The Athenas took down Chapman at home on Sept. 23.
