No. 12 Stags on quest to repeat at NCAA Championship

Following a SCIAC Championship title, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s golf team will head to Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida to participate in the 2017 NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championships at Mission Inn Resort & Club from May 16-19.
Shaw and Morkovine earn CoSIDA All-District honors

Senior men's tennis player Daniel Morkovine (CMC) and junior men's golfer Jonathan Shaw (CMC) earned Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Two doubles teams and two singles selected for NCAAs

The top two doubles pairs from the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s tennis team qualified to compete in the doubles draw at the National Championships in Chattanooga, Tenn. beginning on May 25. Additionally, first years Catherine Allen (SC) and Nicole Tan (CMC) were selected to play in the singles draw. Senior Katie Kuosman (CMC) will pair with Allen while junior Lindsay Brown (CMC) partners with Tan.
Morkovine, Hull & Parodi qualify for NCAA singles play

Senior captains Daniel Morkovine (CMC) and Glenn Hull (CMC) and freshman Nikolai Parodi (CMC) were selected as men’s tennis singles qualifiers for the NCAA Championships. The field of 32 athletes will begin play following the team competition on May 25 at The Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.

All six of the singles players for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s tennis team earned all-conference honors from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The First Team honorees included junior Kyla Scott (HMC), and first years Catherine Allen (SC) and Nicole Tan (CMC). Senior Katie Kuosman (CMC), junior Lindsay Brown (CMC), and sophomore Jessie Cruz (CMC) were named to the All-SCIAC Second Team.

Six members of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s tennis team landed on the First and Second Teams from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, as announced May 12. Freshman Nikolai Parodi (CMC) highlighted the Stags’ selections as he was named both the Newcomer and Athlete of the Year.
Two Athenas earn All-Region honors; Loncki named All-American

After a fifth place finish at the National Championships, junior Margaret Loncki (CMC) was a Second Team All-American honoree, as named by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association. Prior to the championships, Loncki and freshman Emma Kang (CMC) both earned All-Region awards from the WGCA as well.
Athenas sweep Sagehens on the season to advance to NCAA Quarterfinals

The cross-street rivals of No. 1 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and No. 5 Pomona-Pitzer met for the third time this season in the NCAA Third Round. The Athenas earned the 5-3 victory and advanced to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament. This was the seventh year in a row that the CMS has beaten the Sagehens in the Regional Championship and today, the Athenas came back after trailing 2-1 after doubles to then win four singles matches.
Five Athenas named to IWLCA All-West Region Teams

Five players from the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s lacrosse program were named to the All-West Region First and Second Teams, as announced by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association on May 12. Senior midfielder Cara Cancelmo (CMC) and junior midfielder Evan Murphy (CMC) earned First Team honors while junior attacker Lauren Clubb (CMC), freshman attacker Emily Cohen (CMC), and junior defender Katie Hill (CMC) were named to the Second Team.
Comeback falls short in NCAA Second Round rematch

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s lacrosse team fell to regional rival, Colorado College, in the Second Round of the NCAA Championships with the score of 15-12. The game was tight throughout the first half, but then when the Tigers scored three in a row to start off the second half, the Athenas’ late rally was not enough to pull out the tournament victory.
Stags earn eighth straight Elite Eight trip, blank No. 13 Trinity

Fueled by a dominant doubles performance, the No. 3 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s tennis team blanked No. 13 Trinity University 5-0 on Saturday to earn a berth in the Elite Eight in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Athenas advance to Regional Final with 5-0 win over ETBU

The No. 1 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s tennis team advanced to the Third Round of the NCAA Championships with a 5-0 win over East Texas Baptist University. The Athenas went up 3-0 in the doubles and never looked back, ending ETBU’s postseason run.
Stags open NCAAs with 5-1 win over No. 23 UT Tyler

The No. 3 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s tennis team opened NCAA play with a convincing 5-1 win over No. 23 UT Tyler on Friday at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center. After taking two of three doubles, the Stags won straight set singles matches at the top three positions to secure their 29th win of the season.
Athenas eighth, Loncki fifth at NCAA Championships

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s golf team ended the 2017 season in eighth, the program’s highest finish at the NCAA Championships. The Athenas rose another spot on the leaderboard in the final day of the tournament with a team score of 311. The team total of 1262 is also the lowest in program history in the NCAA Tournament.

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s golf team maintained their position in ninth place at the NCAA Championships at the Bay Oaks Country Club on Thursday afternoon in the NCAA Division III National Championships. The Athenas, led by Margaret Loncki (CMC), improved their team score for the third day in a row to shoot a 314.
