Women’s Tennis sweep to 2-0 start

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s tennis team got off to a hot start this season after sweeping Cal Lutheran 7-0 and Chapman 9-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Baughman and freshmen pitchers secure sweep over Caltech

Stellar defending from the infield and some standout pitching performances helped the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team (4-3, 3-0) sweep its weekend series against Caltech (2-7, 0-3). The Stags narrowly won 4-3 in their game on Saturday, but looked more in control in their Sunday doubleheader as they won 5-0 and 6-3.
Early season rematch goes to Wildacats

In its home opener on Saturday afternoon, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps softball team matched up with the last team it faced in the 2016 season, Linfield. The Athenas scored first in both games and out-hit the Wildcats in game two, but ultimately fell in both with scores of 3-1 and 4-1.
Staunch defending locks up SCIAC title for Stags

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s basketball team (19-4, 12-3) claimed the SCIAC title and home court advantage for the SCIAC semifinal after winning 62-50 over Chapman University (13-11, 5-10) on Saturday.
Senior Athenas seal fourth consecutive SCIAC title

Senior Night could not have ended any better for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team (17-8, 13-3) after the Athenas clinched the SCIAC title with a 71-62 victory over Chapman University (15-9, 12-3).

Both the men’s and women’s swim and dive teams delivered impressive performances for Claremont-Mudd-Scripps over the four day SCIAC Championships. The Stags slipped into the lead early on Friday and then it all came down to the 400-yard free relay to decide the team champion, beating Pomona-Pitzer 1030-1022. The Athenas held a 255 point lead coming into the day and extended it up to almost 300 for a final score of 1289.

In the third day of the SCIAC Championships for swim & dive, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps gained ground on both the men's and women's sides. The Athenas now have a commanding lead at 929 with the next closest opponent at 674. The Stags, led by senior Matthew Williams (CMC) earned crucial points in both championship and consolation finals to come within inches of Pomona-Pitzer. The Sagehens currently hold the 678-676 lead over the CMS men.

Thursday night ended on a frustrating note for the No. 25 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s basketball team (18-4, 11-4) as the Stags saw a buzzer-beating 3-pointer from Cal Lutheran (16-6, 9-4) end their night with a 61-58 loss.

In the first day of the SCIAC Championships, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps swimming and diving teams set new meet records and are each battling for the top spot in the conference. The Athenas, bolstered by a superb showing in the 1-meter diving, sit in first place with an 82-point lead over Pomona-Pitzer. The Sagehens hold a narrow 122-114 lead over the Stags after the first day of competition.
CMS student-athletes take part in NCAA-wide training on substance abuse prevention

In an effort to increase student awareness on campus regarding substance abuse prevention and health promotion, five individuals (three current students and two administrators) represented Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletics at the APPLE Institute from Jan. 20-22 in Nashville, Tenn.
