Hollimon & Presti qualify for NCAA Championships

Freshman Kendall Hollimon (CMC) and junior Maia Presti (SC) qualified for the NCAA Championships in Shenandoah, Texas March 15-18 after competing in the NCAA Region 2 Diving Championships over the weekend.

Another 10-goal win for Athenas

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s lacrosse team met up with cross-street rivals, Pomona-Pitzer, in just the second game of the season, and won 16-6. The tenacious CMS defense held the Sagehens to just one goal in the first half en route to the dominating victory in SCIAC play.

Loncki leads Athenas to win in SCIAC #1

In the first conference tournament of 2017, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s golf team took a 12-stroke lead after the first round and then increased that to win by 21. The Athenas were led my junior Margaret Loncki (CMC) who posted the low round on each day, ultimately winning the individual medal by 10 strokes.

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball team (19-8) earned the automatic qualification to the NCAA Tournament and face UT Dallas (25-3), the Regional host, for the First Round. The NCAA released the 64-team field and regional sites in the selection show that aired Monday morning.

In the NCAA Selection Show on Monday morning, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s basketball team (22-4) learned they are headed to Whitman College in Walla Walla, Wash. to face Whitworth University (23-4) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

For the first time in Claremont-Mudd-Scripps history, both the Stags and Athenas won the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Postseason Tournament on their home court. The Stags came away with the 77-71 victory over Cal Lutheran on Saturday night in Roberts Pavilion for the program’s fifth tournament championship, earning the automatic qualification to the NCAA Tournament next weekend.

Four-peat success earns Athenas NCAA trip

They’ve won it three times before and they did it again. Through the guiding experience of the seniors, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s basketball made history, sealing their fourth straight SCIAC Tournament title after a 65-54 victory over Chapman on Saturday night.

The weekend matchup between the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps baseball team (5-4, 3-0) and University of Puget Sound (5-7, 1-2) concluded with a split series after a rainout on Sunday afternoon cancelled the third game of the series.

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps track season opened up with the Rossi Relays, an unofficial NCAA event held in honor of former CMS athlete Carl Rossic (CMC ’84), on Saturday afternoon. All but one of the SCIAC schools and ten other colleges in Southern California participated in this event. The meet was held in honor of alumnus and former CMS athlete Carl Rossi (CMC ’84), currently a Medical Director of the Scripps Proton Therapy Center in La Jolla, Calif.

Freshmen rule as Stags win two on opening day

Freshmen Matthew Jacobs (CMC) and Jake Williams (HMC) won clinching singles matches, as Claremont-Mudd-Scripps overcame 2-1 deficits after doubles to defeat No. 25 Bates and No. 30 Brandeis on Saturday at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center. Jacobs and Williams were two of four first-year players making their dual match debuts for CMS.

In the first conference games of the season, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps softball team swept Occidental College winning 1-0 and then 4-0. The Athenas improve to 3-3 overall while the Tigers drop to 2-10, 0-4 in SCIAC play.
