Four athletes to compete at NCAA Championships

Four members of the CMS track & field team will compete at the NCAA Division III Championships this week at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, OH.  The top 20 men and the top 22 women entered in each individual event participate in the championship meet.

Ellyn Erving will compete in two events at the meet. She is seeded seventh (tied) in the long jump with a mark of 5.74 meters (18-10) and fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.05 meters (39-6.5).  The long jump is at 3:30 CST on Thursday and the triple jump is at 3:00 CST on Saturday.  Erving has competed at the meet all four years of her career.  This will be her fourth time competing in the triple jump and the second time in the long jump.

Allison Barnwell is seeded ninth in the steeplechase with a time of 10:47.41.  She will compete in the steeple preliminaries at 4:30 CST on Thursday.  The top five in each of the two prelims will advance to Saturday's final along with the next best four times from both races.  The final is at 1:00.  This is Barnwell's second appearance at the championship meet in the steeple.

Hanna Tarleton is seeded 21st in the 400 meters with a time of 56.85.  She will compete in the preliminaries of that event at 7:00 CST on Friday.  The winner of each of the three prelims plus the next five best times from the three races will advance to Saturday's final which will be at 2:55.

Matt Wong is seeded 13th in the long jump with a mark of 7.19 meters (23-7.25).  He will compete on Thursday at 6:30 CST.

The top eight competitors in every event at the championships earns All-American honors.
