Bill LaRock

CMC '64

Bill LaRock was the first great sprinter at Claremont-Mudd.  His name filled the record books in both the individual sprint events as well as the relays.  Upon graduation, he held records in the 100 (9.7), 220 (21.5), 400 (48.8) and was a member of the 4 x 110, 4 x 220 and 4 x 400 relays record teams all of which he anchored.  The Littleton, CO native was the team captain both his junior and senior years.  He was the first CMS athlete to win back-to-back SCIAC titles when he won the 100 yard dash at the 1963 and 1964 SCIAC Track & Field Championships.  The consumate team guy in an individual sport, LaRock was most proud of his three school record relays (one of which [4 x 200] is still a school record).
