Stags get 20th win at Cal Lu, defeat Kingsman 8-1
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The No. 2 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's tennis team earned its fourth conference win and 20th of the season, defeating Cal Lutheran 8-1 on Friday afternoon. CMS took two of three in doubles and then won all six singles matches in straight sets. Sophomore Julian Gordy (CMC) and freshman Nikolai Parodi (CMC) each had two victories to lead the Stags.
With a 2-1 lead heading into the singles, CMS quickly earned wins at the No. 6, 5, and 4 positions to secure the dual match. Senior Max Macey (CMC) got the clinch at the No. 4 singles spot, earning his 18th win in 20 matches. Macey is now 15-1 in dual matches this spring. Senior Alex Brenner (CMC) recorded his third win in a row and eighth in 10 dual matches. Gordy at No. 6 was the first Stags singles player to complete his match, winning his fifth straight.
CMS (20-2, 4-0) continues conference play on Saturday, taking on Occidental (4-10, 0-5) at 10 a.m. at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center and then travels to the Costa Mesa Tennis Center for a 3 p.m. match aganst Chapman (2-12, 1-3).
