On Court: 4-Star recruit on tennistecruiting.net, ranked as high as 87 nationally senior year...played number one for Southern California in 16's Zonals in Salt Lake City, UT...winner of boys 16's Harper Ink designated tournament...four-year varsity singles player at Viewpoint School,  leading team to 2011 CIF title in Division IV and three second-round appearances in Division I...three time individual league champion (once singles, twice doubles) and reached semifinals of  CIF Individuals in doubles senior year...as a freshman made impressive debut at ITA West Regionals by winning his first three singles matches, including a Round of 16 upset of 5th seed Chad Stone of UC Santa Cruz...reached singles quarters before falling in three sets to teammate Glenn Hull...partnered Alex Brenner in doubles and went 3-1 in four matches...earned Fall singles ranking of #18 in the West Region...made dual match debut on Feb 20 at #4 singles and #3 doubles against Brandeis, winning both...won his first four singles dual matches and first three doubles duals before contracting mono in early March...returned to action on April 16 and remained a fixture at #6 singles and #2 doubles (with Seifert) for the rest of the spring...completed 2016 campaign as CMS' most prolific freshman with dual records of 7-1 in singles and 7-6 in doubles, going 12-3 overall in singles and 13-9 overall in doubles...earned ITA Scholar-Athlete and SCIAC All-Academic honors for earning a 3.5 GPA or higher...as a sophomore turned in another strong performance at the ITA West Regionals, reaching the R16 of singles and winning the doubles title with partner Daniel Morkovine...entered the singles as the 9th seed and won two matches before falling to #4 Chase Lipscomb of Redkands in two tie-breaks...seeded #2 with Morkovine, the Stags duo were the first since 2012 to win the ITA West doubles crown, including a straight set win over teammates Hull and Parodi in the final...Gordy and Morkovine finish with Fall ITA Rankings of #2 in the West and #3 Nationally and earn ITA Doubles All-American honors...lost his first singles dual of the spring against Div II Concordia, but then rebounded to win his next seven matches...had keys wins at No. 6 against Carnegie Mellon, No. 2 against Southwestern, a rare 0-6, 6-0,6-0 win at No. 3 against Santa Cruz, and a regular season ending win at No. 1 against Hope International...played at No. 6 singles in NCAA Regionals but was unable to complete either before the matches were clinched...played in 38 doubles matches including 31 dual matches, primarily at the No. 1 position with Morkovine...spent much of the spring ranked among the top three teams in the west, with wns over Carnegie Mellon, Chicago, and Redlands, but was ultimately snubbed by the NCAA selection committee...played much of April and most of May with Williams, and three matches with Brenner at No. 3...won three of five matches with Williams in NCAA team tournament...finished 2017 with overall records of 9-2 in singles and 25-13 in doubles...in addition to ITA All-American honors, Gordy also earned 2nd Team All-SCIAC accolades...he continued his stellar scholarly record with his second ITA Scholar-Athlete and SCIAC All-Academic honors...appointed by Coach Settles as captain of 2017-2018 Stags Tennis.
