  • All four winter teams give CMS points in Learfield Directors' Cup standings

    After the completion of winter sports, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps sits at 16th nationally in the Division III Learfield Directors' Cup, as released on March 30. All four winter teams placed in the top-25 in NCAA postseason competition. CMS is additionally the highest ranked program from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
  • Stags 14th, Athenas 21st as CMS wraps up 2017 Nationals

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps swimming and diving teams wrapped up the 2017 National Championship with the Athenas in 21st and the Stags finishing 14th. CMS was the highest-finishing program from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference at the meet.
  • Williams, Ngo and Presti place individually; 800 free relays earn points for CMS

    Clutch performances on the third day of the Division III NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships earned points for both the men’s and women’s teams for Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. The Athenas are in 19th place at 36 points while the Stags sit in 14th with 57 points.
  • Williams’ 100 fly and Athenas’ 400 medley relay earn points at NCAA Champs

    Swimmers in two events qualified from the morning session to compete in the finals on the second day of the NCAA Championships for men’s and women’s swimming and diving. Senior Matthew Williams (CMC) placed third in the 100-yard butterfly (47.80) with a new CMS record. Then, the women’s 400-yard medley relay of freshmen Jocelyn Crawford (CMC) and Claire Bacon-Brenes (SC) with seniors Stephanie Doi (CMC) and Kelly Ngo (CMC) bested their time from the SCIAC Championships and placed 11th at 3:47.47 to close out the evening.
  • Women’s 200 medley relay places 11th at Nationals
    March 15, 2017
    After qualifying for the finals with a 1:44.34, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women’s 200-yard medley relay team placed 11th with a time of 1:43.92 in the NCAA National Championships. With the win, the Athenas earned 12 points toward the team total. CMS swam in two relays and five individual events on Wednesday.
  • Eleven swimmers and divers prepare for nationals

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps swimming and diving program heads into the NCAA Championships as one of only three teams in the nation with individual, relay and diving qualifiers for both men and women. Five stags and six Athenas will make the trip to Shenandoah, Texas for the meet held March 15-18.
  • Williams repeats as Athlete of the Year as many Stags earn All-SCIAC honors

    Senior Matthew Williams (CMC) was named as the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s swimming and diving Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive season, as announced on Feb. 24.
  • Hollimon & Presti qualify for NCAA Championships

    Freshman Kendall Hollimon (CMC) and junior Maia Presti (SC) qualified for the NCAA Championships in Shenandoah, Texas March 15-18 after competing in the NCAA Region 2 Diving Championships over the weekend.
  • Six CMS divers selected to compete in NCAA Regionals

    The 2017 NCAA Diving competition for Region 2 is set to take place Feb. 24-25 at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa.
  • SCIAC Champs: Stags by eight points, Athenas by 296

    Both the men's and women's swim and dive teams delivered impressive performances for Claremont-Mudd-Scripps over the four day SCIAC Championships. The Stags slipped into the lead early on Friday and then it all came down to the 400-yard free relay to decide the team champion, beating Pomona-Pitzer 1030-1022. The Athenas held a 255 point lead coming into the day and extended it up to almost 300 for a final score of 1289.

  • Williams sets new SCIAC record while Athenas dominate in day three

    In the third day of the SCIAC Championships for swim & dive, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps gained ground on both the men’s and women’s sides. The Athenas now have a commanding lead at 929 with the next closest opponent at 674. The Stags, led by senior Matthew Williams (CMC) earned crucial points in both championship and consolation finals to come within inches of Pomona-Pitzer. The Sagehens currently hold the 678-676 lead over the CMS men.

    After the second day of the SCIAC Championships for swimming and diving, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athenas have a 162 point lead while the Stags trail by a mere 32 points.
  • Swim & Dive poised for SCIAC Championships

    The annual Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships for swimming and diving are set to take place Feb. 15-18 in Commerce, Calif. at the Brenda Villa Aquatic Center. Both the men's and women's teams for Claremont-Mudd-Scripps enter the meet undefeated in SCIAC dual meets during the season.
  • Athenas & Stags set meet records in 800 free relay

    In the first day of the SCIAC Championships, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps swimming and diving teams set new meet records and are each battling for the top spot in the conference. The Athenas, bolstered by a superb showing in the 1-meter diving, sit in first place with an 82-point lead over Pomona-Pitzer. The Sagehens hold a narrow 122-114 lead over the Stags after the first day of competition.
  • Stags and Athenas reign over Sixth Street

    In the highly anticipated matchup, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s and women’s swim and dive teams earned the regular season victory over Pomona-Pitzer on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The Stags held just a 12 point lead at the second break but then extended their lead to 38 points, ultimately winning 167-129. The Athenas came away with a huge 182-117 win, avenging last season’s dual meet loss.
  • Williams named CollegeSwimming National Athlete of the Week

    Senior Matthew Williams (CMC) earned CollegeSwimming’s National Swimmer of the Week for NCAA Division III after another undefeated weekend.
  • Three pool records set in victory over Cal Lu and Caltech
    January 28, 2017
    Three pool records were set in Saturday’s double dual meet with Cal Lutheran and Caltech. Both the men’s and women’s teams for Claremont-Mudd-Scripps were victorious on the day beating CLU 153-68 (Stags) and 173-64 (Athenas), while taking Caltech 170-40 (Stags) and 197-30 (Athenas).

  • Swimming takes all but one event while diving breaks pool records at Redlands
    January 14, 2017
    The men's and women's Claremont-Mudd-Scripps swimming and diving teams won 25 of 26 events in Saturday's dual meet with Redlands. The Athenas won by the largest margin, beating the Bulldogs 186-54 while the Stags still held over a hundred-point advantage at 178-61.
  • Swim & dive sweeps 19 events vs. Chapman
    January 07, 2017
    After a tight loss on the previous day, the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps swim and dive team bounced back to sweep the podium in 19 of 32 events in the SCIAC dual meet with Chapman. The men won with the score of 228-46 while the women's team more than doubled Chapman's points as well, winning 208-89.
  • Tight meet with Cal Baptist lost by just nine points on men’s side

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men’s swim and dive team ended up just nine points behind Cal Baptist in the annual dual meet with the Lancers, losing 125-116. In the one-of-a-kind meet, just fractions of seconds separated the teams in a few races to make for an exciting competition.
  • Winter Invite finishes fall competition

    The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps swim team posted two top-3 finishes in the final day of the Winter Invite at East Los Angeles College on Sunday afternoon. Freshman Claire Bacon-Brenes (SC) raced in the 200-yard breaststroke, placing second at 2:26.01 in the prelims on Sunday. Classmate Henry Limm (HMC) had the fastest time on the men's side in the 200 breast at 2:07.32, more than six seconds faster than the next finisher.
  • Swim wraps up first two days of Winter Invite

    In the first two days of the Winter Invite, the Claremont Mudd-Scripps swimming and diving team have delivered a number of top-3 performances and one time that cracked into the program’s top-10.
