Both cross country teams and 11 individuals earn All-Academic honors

The men's and women's cross country teams along with 11 athletes earned All-Academic honors from the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as announced by the USTFCCCA today. To qualify for the All-Academic award, all members of the team must average a cumulative GPA of 3.10 or better and individuals must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better and finish in the top 25% at the regional race.

CMS was one of seven teams nationally to have six women earn individual honors: Jen Lehr (SCR SO), Carmen Mejia (SCR SO), Sara Mostatabi (CMC SR), Kaitlyn Spees (SCR SR), Caroline Willian (CMC SO) and Taia Wu (SCR SR).  CMS was one of 15 teams nationally to have five individual men qualifiers:  Alex Lombardo (CMC SO), Zorg Loustalet (HMC JR), Alex Mauro (CMC SR), Sam Pitcavage (CMC SR) and Jack Wilson (CMC JR).  CMS had the most total individuals earn All-Academic honors in the West Region (no other team had more than six) and were one of nine teams nationally to have as many as 11.

The Athenas, 2014 SCIAC Champions and 10th place at the NCAA Championships, had a cumulative GPA of 3.521 for their 29 runners through the fall semester while the Stags, 2014 SCIAC and West Region Champions and 15th place at the NCAA Championships, had a cumulative GPA of 3.336 for their 33 runners.
