Cooper McKenna Captures SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week Honors

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Cooper McKenna of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's water polo team earned the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week Award for games through Sunday, March 5, the league office announced today.

McKenna had 13 goals on the week, as CMS went 2-2 at the Claremont Convergence, which it hosted on Friday and Saturday at Axelrood Pool. Included in that total was a hat trick against No. 2 USC, while adding an assist as the Athenas hung in with the Trojans in a 17-8 defeat. She also had five goals on six shots in a win over Augustana, and had three goals and two assists in a dominant win over Iona (15-4).

McKenna becomes the second different Athena honored by the SCIAC this season, after Dara Schoolcraft captured Defensive Player of the Week honors following a win over Fresno Pacific. 

CMS will be back in action on Wednesday when it travels to La Verne for its SCIAC opener at 4 p.m.
