Christina Kulick Earns SCIAC Women's Water Polo Offensive Player of the Week

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Christina Kulick captured the SCIAC Women's Water Polo Offensive Player of the Week Award for games through Sunday, Feb. 27, the league office announced on Monday.

Kulick had half of the CMS goals as the Athenas came from behind to take an 8-7 win over Cal Lutheran in its SCIAC opener on Wednesday. With the Athenas down 7-5 midway through the fourth quarter, she scored back-to-back goals to tie the score at 7-7 with 2:22. She then had a steal (her second of the game) with eight seconds left to give the ball back to CMS, setting up the stage for the game-winning goal with just one second left from Cooper McKenna.

Kulick becomes the third different award winner for the Athenas already this season. Mia Adsen captured it last week after a game-winning goal with two seconds left in a non-league win over Whittier, the first of two straight dramatic finishes. Dara Schoolcraft earned the Defensive Player of the Week on Jan. 31, after anchoring a defense that allowed only two goals in a win over Occidental (playing in front of three different goalies), while scoring three goals herself on the offensive end.

CMS will be back in action on Wednesday when it hosts another SCIAC contest against Chapman, before hosting the-day Claremont Convergence Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
